Regulations for starting a medical waste take-back program vary by state and locality, but typically require compliance with DEA, EPA & state environmental departments, OSHA, and DOT regulations. Businesses must ensure only “ultimate users” (patients or their families) return medical waste, use approved collection solutions, and partner with licensed collectors.
Our collection receptacles are secure drop-off points intended for medical waste take-back only and follow regulatory guidance for safe collection and disposal. Please keep sharps and medical waste in their original puncture-resistant container and mark out or remove any personal information so it can’t be seen. Do not place loose sharps or liquids into the receptacle.
Accepted: Needles, syringes, connections needles, lancets, infusion sets, EpiPens, insulin pens, and other autoinjectors.
Not Accepted (items such as but not limited to): Prescription medications (shop solutions), inhalers (shop solutions), aerosol products, liquids, hazardous pharmaceuticals, controlled substances, pathological waste, chemotherapeutic or radiological drugs, batteries, e-waste, vapes, hazardous chemicals, garbage and other solid waste.
If you are using an approved ARXG Sharps or Regulated Medical Waste Take-Back Container—only properly contained sharps and permitted regulated medical waste should be placed inside. Follow all instructions provided with the container, ensure contents are securely enclosed, and do not overfill. Containers must be sealed according to the included guidance before return shipment for safe and compliant disposal.
